As far as other injuries, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said Aleksander Barkov (lower body), Radko Gudas (upper body) and Chris Tierney (upper body) are tracking to return right after the upcoming break, while Patric Hornqvist (upper body) and Anthony Duclair (lower body) will be out longer.
"There's a chance, but we'll go day-to-day for now," Maurice said when asked about Barkov potentially suiting up against the New York Islanders on Friday in the team's final game before the brief holiday hiatus. "If he felt strong and we were comfortable with it, we'd consider it."
Sitting at 15-14-4 after closing out their two-game road trip with a 7-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday, the Panthers kicked off that same trip with a 4-2 win in New Jersey on Saturday.
Facing off for the second time in less than a week, Reinhart led the charge on offense in that first meeting with the Devils with two goals, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 of 32 shots in net. Also chipping in up front, Gustav Forsling and Carter Verhaeghe touched the twine.
Carrying the hottest stick on the Panthers, Reinhart, who scored a career-high 33 goals last season, has lit the lamp in each of his last four games. During that red-hot scoring streak, he's racked up eight total points (five goals, three assists) while averaging 21:25 of ice time per tilt.
"He's been dynamic around the net," Maurice said. "Aside from the chances and things going in, I thought the day he went back with Lundell his game changed. It was a familiar player. I'm hoping that he brings the confidence that he has now because he's scoring goals, and that the comfort of playing with Lundy will help Lundy as well and they can get back to where they were."
Earning his seventh start in the last eight games, Bobrovsky will man the crease against the Devils after backing up Knight and getting a breather in Boston. Over his last six starts, the two-time Vezina Trophy winner has posted a 3-3-0 record behind a strong .923 save percentage.
In second place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 21-9-2, the Devils are stuck in their worst slump of the season. Dropping each of their last six games, they've been outscored 24-12 during that stretch, which continued with a 4-1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
After falling behind 3-0 to the Hurricanes in the second period, the Devils were unable to recover as Pyotr Kochetkov stood on his head while making 37 saves in Carolina's net. Netting the lone goal for New Jersey, Jack Huges has at least one point in 11 of his last 12 games.
Stopping six of seven shots in a relief appearance for the Devils in Carolina, Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to get the nod in net against the Panthers. Set to make his first start since Nov. 3, Blackwood has posted a 4-2-0 record with a .879 save percentage this season.
The biggest piece of New Jersey's ninth-ranked offense (3.38 goals per game), Hughes leads the team in goals (17) and points (37). Jesper Bratt is second in points (31), including a team-high 21 assists, while Nico Hischier sits third in scoring with 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists).
Dating back to 2015, Florida owns a 7-1-0 record against New Jersey in Sunrise.
"They are very dynamic in the plays that they make and in the plays in small areas," Maurice said of the Devils. "I think they're the quickest team on the puck that we've seen [this season]."
