Selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, the 18-year-old really came into his own during his second season in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos in 2021-22, registering a career-high 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 64 contests.
Known for his next-level speed and willingness to get his nose dirty when needed -- a notion evidenced by his team-high 119 penalty minutes -- Davies said he loves "being a menace" on the ice and tries to model his game after NHL players like Brad Marchand and Ryan Lomberg.
"That's definitely part of my game, getting under the other team's skin," Davies said.
Putting on a Panthers sweater for the first time at last week's rookie camp, Davies also stood out during the team's Prospect Showcase in Raleigh, including scoring with a slick move off his backhand on a breakaway during an eventual 6-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
"It's been good to just get down here and play some games with the guys," Davies said of his experience at rookie camp. "It's great to just play a couple games, get to know the guys, create some chemistry and see what the Panthers have here for the future. It's been exciting."
