A day after being named the Hockey East Player of the Year, Spencer Knight got even more good news.
On Wednesday, the Panthers prospect and Boston College netminder was selected as one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, which is handed out annually to the top player in college hockey. On April 1, that list will be whittled down to just three players before the winner is eventually announced on April 9.
Taken by the Panthers with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Knight has been nothing short of outstanding during his sophomore campaign with the Eagles. After flying out of the gate on a 11-game unbeaten streak, the 19-year-old went on to finish the regular season with a 15-2-1 record, .937 save percentage and three shutouts.
Facing the third-most shots in the NCAA this season, Knight made at least 30 saves in 10 games.
