Knight-Save-16x9

EDMONTON -- The Florida Panthers picked up a point during the first stop on their five-game road trip with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Monday.
With the Oilers trailing 3-2 late in the third period, Evan Bouchard scored with 4.4 seconds left in regulation to get the game to overtime. Just 22 seconds into the extra frame, Leon Draisaitl took a pass from Connor McDavid on a 2-on-1 and scored to complete the comeback for Edmonton.
"They got going," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said of McDavid and Draisaitl, who combined for two goals and two assists. "They got them the lead, tied the game and won the game for them. … Our goaltender was fantastic tonight. [Down] 2-1 in the third, we found a way to get the lead back, and that's tough when you lose it with seconds left on the clock."

Like Maurice said, Spencer Knight was spectacular once again between the pipes for the Panthers as he finished with 36 saves, including making 12 stops on high-danger shots.
"He's unreal," Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad said. "He's a gamer."
Showing no signs of slowing down on offense, Matthew Tkachuk opened the scoring for the Panthers just 3:49 into the first period when he jammed in his own rebound to make it 1-0.
Standing tall against Edmonton's second-ranked power play (29.3%), the Panthers capped off a solid opening 20 minutes when they killed off a full minute of a 5-on-3 advantage for the Oilers.
Over the course of those two kills, Knight made four saves.
"We've seen enough 5-on-3 to last us a year," Maurice said. "Great blocks, great kills, great saves. The penalty kill was up to the task."
Breaking through on the power play in the second period, McDavid roofed a backhand shot over Knight's glove on a breakaway to get the Oilers on the board and make it 1-1 at 10:35.
Giving Edmonton the lead, Tyson Barrie, who scored twice against Florida earlier this month, pounced on a bouncing puck in the slot and scored to make it 2-1 at 5:18 of the third period.
At 10:58, Anton Lundell evened things up for the Panthers when he directed a slick pass from Sam Reinhart past Skinner from the low slot in stride to make it 2-2. Starting to heat up on the offensive side of the puck, Lundell has lit the lamp in each of the last three games.
"I just try to keep working hard," Lundell said. "I believe that when we create enough chances that we'll get the goals at some point."
Sending the Panthers ahead on the power play, Brandon Montour took advantage of some chaos around Edmonton's crease and fired a shot past Skinner to make it 3-2 at 15:16. The Oilers challenged the goal for a high-stick earlier in the play, but it was upheld by officials.
Pulling their goaltender to gain a 6-on-5 advantage, the Oilers pushed the game to overtime when Bouchard scored from the slot to make it 3-3 with just 4.4 seconds left on the clock. In the extra frame, Draisaitl buried a pass from McDavid to give Edmonton the 4-3 win.
"It was a good game," Lundell said. "A tight game, tough loss, but there's always something we can improve. Now we take the good things with us and try to improve a little bit on those things that we can be even better at."

KEY QUOTES

"When you get rolling on any special team it's nice. The power play found a way to get one tonight and obviously pretty happy with the PK, but at the end not enough." -- Aaron Ekblad on Florida's special teams
"Spence was good today again. Without him, we would've been in big trouble. Overall, we need to help Spencer a little more, but it's important to have a goalie that's hot." -- Anton Lundell on Spencer Knight
