Welcome to "Vaulted," a new series in which we take a look back a moments that are worthy of being enshrined within the Florida Panthers Virtual Vault, which is presented by Baptist Health South Florida.

It didn't take Mike Hoffman long to make history in South Florida.

Acquired in an offseason trade with San Jose for a few draft picks, the gifted sniper picked up his first point as a member of the Panthers in just the third game of the 2018-19 season. From there, he would go on to make a dent on the scoresheet in every game for more than a month.

From Oct. 13 through Nov. 21, 2018, he strung together a 17-game point streak. That number not only stood as a career-best, but also blew past Hall of Famer Pavel Bure's longstanding franchise record of 13, which was set almost two decades earlier during the 1999-00 season.

"It feels good," Hoffman said after tying Bure's mark on Nov. 13. "Any time you can help this team win hockey games is what you're looking to do. Those other things are kind of cool to look at and look back at once I'm a little bit older. Right now, I'm focused on winning hockey games."

During the streak, Hoffman was chipping in from all over the ice. Having a hand in more than one-third of Florida's offense, he racked up 20 points on the team's 56 goals during that span. Of those 20 points, 11 came while at even-strength and nine were notched on the power play.

At the time, Hoffman was just the fifth player in NHL history to register a point streak of at least 17 games in the first season after joining a new team, joining a very impressive list that also featured Pierre Turgeon (18), Clint Smith (18), Dany Heatley (22) and Wayne Gretzky (23).

"That's our responsibility, to put points up on the board and help this team win hockey games," said Hoffman, whose 20 points during the streak came in the form of 10 goals and 10 assists. "Like I said, when things are going your way you just want to ride that wave as long as you can."

Tied for the 65th longest point streak in NHL history, Hoffman's 17-game run was the second-longest in the NHL during the 2018-19 campaign behind only Patrick Kane's 20-game streak. Bolstered by his streak, Hoffman finished the season with career-highs in goals (36) and points (70).
