The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forwards Drew O'Connor and Drake Caggiula to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
O'Connor, 24, has skated in 27 games for the Penguins this season, registering five goals, three assists and eight points. This season with the WBS Penguins, O'Connor has skated in 20 games recording eight goals, 14 assists, 22 points and is a team-leading plus-9.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward has played parts of three seasons with Pittsburgh, appearing in 59 career NHL games and accumulating 14 points (8G-6A). O'Connor also appeared in two playoff games with the Penguins during the 2021-22 season. In 73 career AHL games with WBS, O'Connor has recorded 27 goals, 46 assists and 73 points.
O'Connor was originally signed by the Penguins as an undrafted free agent on March 10, 2020 and re-signed to a one-year contract extension on March 12, 2022.
Caggiula, 28, has played in four games for Pittsburgh this season and recorded two shots. In 47 games with the WBS Penguins this year, he has tallied 12 goals, 25 assists and 37 points. His 25 assists lead all Penguins, while his 12 goals and 37 points are the third most on the team.
The 5-foot-10, 176-pound forward has played in 282 career NHL games, split between Edmonton (2016-18), Chicago (2018-20), Arizona (2020-21), Buffalo (2021-22) and Pittsburgh (2022-23), and has recorded 46 goals, 45 assists and 91 points. The undrafted forward's best NHL season came in 2017-18 with the Oilers when he recorded a career-high 13 goals and 20 points in 67 games.
The Penguins return to action tomorrow night against the Florida Panthers at FLA Live Arena. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM ET.
