"We are very fortunate to have an incredible, passionate fan base," said Penguins Senior Vice President of Marketing James Santilli. "Whether in person at PPG Paints Arena, or following the Penguins on TV, radio and social media, our fans are always there to support us. This is just a small way of showing our appreciation for what they do for us."
Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending just before puck drop against the New York Rangers, the Penguins picked one fan on Twitter at the top of the hour and hooked them up with whatever prize or item they had requested.
"We thought this year we would take what the fans asked for throughout the season and reward some of those requests," said Penguins Director of New Media Andi Perelman, who oversees the team's social media accounts. "We just want to surprise and delight the fans and give back to people that really love the team."
Fan reactions, needless to say, were amazing.
For Jacob Hunziker, his wish of shadowing either Penguins' in-arena host Celina Pompeani or Penguins Radio Network and PensTV host Josh Getzoff will come true.
