Quote Roundup: Pens-Canadiens
ON WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE MATCHUP TONIGHT:
Kunitz: "Really good defensive structure. They're going to be opportunistic. They've got some big shots on the point. Their special teams are good. And obviously they have a good goaltender, so we have to make it tough on him just like we did on (Braden) Holtby. Put pucks to the net. Doesn't always have to be the pretty one. If you're throwing them to the net and it hits off somebody, it still counts the same way."
ON ENTERING THE LINEUP WITH CULLEN OUT:
Fehr: "We definitely lose one of the best faceoff guys in the league and a guy that's playing really well for us. So that's obviously a big loss. To try to step in and fill his shoes is not really what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to play my own game there and I'm really comfortable in the middle. Hopefully I can get a little bit of chemistry going with the line. We have some experience there, we have some speed, we have some energy. A little bit of everything. I think it'll be a good line."
ON THE PENALTY KILL WITHOUT CULLEN:
Sullivan: "Our concepts are going to stay the same, our principles are going to remain the same. We have a number of penalty killers we rely on. Cully is just one of them. He's an important one, that's for sure, but we have other capable guys who are familiar with our concepts and that we know can get the job done."
ON BOUNCING BACK FROM ALLOWING 7 GOALS AGAINST WASHINGTON:
Murray: "It's not a fun game to be a part of as a goalie. Everything is kind of around the net. I bet you every shot was a scoring chance. So it was a lot of weird things like that. A lot of tips, a lot of bad bounces. At the end of the day you make the right read and you're in the right spot and something like that happens, then you can brush it off. I think that happened quite a few times. You know that power-play goal, (Ian Cole) went down in front of (Alex) Ovechkin's shot, takes one and it went in from off (Trevor Daley) and he kicked it a little too hard and it went right to (TJ) Oshie backdoor. At the end of the day there is really nothing you can do on stuff like that. Those ones you have to brush off."
ON GOING BACK TO MURRAY:
Sullivan: "Matt has had a history of responding pretty well to those types of games. He's also a guy that hasn't played a lot of games coming off his last injury and so we feel as though with another game here, he's going to get that much more comfortable with the decisions that he makes and finding the puck and tracking the puck. I think the only ay as a goaltender you can get that is in game situations. From our standpoint, Matt has always had a long history of responding the right way."
ON HOW IT FEELS TO BE BACK IN THE NHL:
Gaunce: "I wish my vocabulary was big enough to fully explain it. I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to play with this team, to play in the NHL again is something that when you're in the American League, you don't want to have that shadow of a doubt, you want to be confident in yourself, but even the most confident people some days might think otherwise. So knowing that I've gotten this opportunity again is something I'm very happy with right now and really looking forward to tonight."
