Igor-All-Star-Presser

The National Hockey League announced today that New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin has been selected to participate in the 2023 NHL All-Star Game on February 4 in Sunrise, Florida.
In earning his first All-Star Game selection, Shesterkin becomes the seventh goaltender in franchise history (Chuck Rayner, Gump Worsley, Ed Giacomin, Gilles Villemure, Mike Richter, Henrik Lundqvist) to be selected to participate in the All-Star Game. He is the 17th goaltender in NHL history to win a Vezina Trophy prior to being selected/playing in an All-Star Game.

This season, Shesterkin has accumulated 18-6-5 record with a 2.43 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. He is 8-2-2 in his last 12 games. Shesterkin has compiled an NHL-high 1754:10 of time on ice. In the NHL, Shesterkin ranks tied for third in wins, seventh in goals-against average and in save percentage (min. 20 GP). Among Metropolitan Division goaltenders, he ranks first in wins.
On the road this season, Shesterkin has a 9-1-2 mark with a .934 save percentage and 1.98 goals-against average. Among goaltenders to play in 10 or more road games, he ranks tied for first in goals-against average, tied for second in wins and third in save percentage. He started the season 9-0-1 on the road, matching the second longest road point streak by a goaltender in Rangers history.
Shesterkin, 27, has appeared in 129 games over parts of four seasons with the Rangers, compiling an 80-35-12 record with a 2.34 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. Last season, Shesterkin was awarded the Vezina Trophy leading the NHL with a 2.07 goals-against average and .935 save percentage, while tallying a 36-13-4 record and six shutouts. He became the third goaltender in NHL history (min. 50 appearances) to post a save percentage of .935 or higher in a single season, joining Tim Thomas (2010-11 - .938) and Dominik Hasek (1998-99 - .937).
Shesterkin was originally drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
