Henrik Lundqvist earned his 446th career NHL win on Jan. 19 at Boston, passing Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk for sole possession of sixth place on the NHL's all-time wins list. Lundqvist represented the Rangers in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game. When Lundqvist makes his next appearance (which will be his 40th of the 2018-19 season), he will become the first goaltender in NHL history to appear in at least 40 games in each of his first 14 NHL seasons.
MIKA MAGIC
Mika Zibanejad recorded a point on 10 consecutive goals which the Rangers scored from Jan. 19 at Boston to Feb. 4 vs. Los Angeles. According to NHL Stats & Information, he became the first Ranger in franchise history to tally a point on 10 consecutive goals scored by the team, as well as the ninth player in NHL history to tally a point on at least 10 consecutive goals scored by his team. Zibanejad, who was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 3, has recorded nine points (five goals, four assists) over the last five games. Zibanejad has tallied a goal in six of the last nine games (10 goals, six assists over the span). He has also recorded a point in 10 of the last 13 games and has tallied 19 points (11 goals, eight assists) in those contests. Zibanejad leads the Rangers in assists (31) and points (53) this season, and he has established career-highs in both categories.
WELCOME MATS
Mats Zuccarello has tallied a point in nine of the last 10 games which he has played (five goals, 10 assists), and he has posted a multi-point game in four of those contests. He has notched eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his last six games and 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in his last eight contests. REMEMBERING 1993-94
The Rangers clinched the Presidents' Trophy for having the best regular season in the NHL during the 1993-94 season with a 5-3 win against Toronto on April 8, 1994 at MSG. The Rangers tallied all five goals during the second period, and Alexei Kovalev registered two of the five goals.
RANGERS VS. MAPLE LEAFS - 1993-94
The Rangers won both meetings with Toronto during the 1993-94 regular season. New York played its first two games in 1993-94 against the Maple Leafs as part of an exhibition series, the "French's Challenge" Tournament, in London, England on September 11 and September 12. The Rangers won both games in the tournament. Eight Rangers tallied two points in the two regular season games New York played against Toronto, and Alexei Kovalev and Esa Tikkanen tied for the team lead with two goals. The Rangers clinched the Presidents' Trophy with a 5-3 win against Toronto on April 8, 1994 at MSG. The Blueshirts also made a trade with the Maple Leafs on the day of the NHL's Trade Deadline in 1994, acquiring Glenn Anderson, a fourth-round pick in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, and the rights to Scott Malone in exchange for Mike Gartner on March 21, 1994.
