Rangers Agree to Terms with Sammy Blais

New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Sammy Blais on a one-year contract extension.
Blais, 25, skated in 14 games for the Blueshirts in 2021-22, recording four assists/points and a plus-3 rating. Blais recorded his first two assists/points with New York on October 21 in Nashville, marking his third career multi-assist game. Blais ranked third on the Rangers with 37 hits and was tied for first in plus/minus before suffering a lower body injury on November 14 that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

The Montmagny, Quebec native has accumulated 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points in 133 NHL games split between the Rangers and St. Louis Blues. Blais came to New York in a trade on July 23, 2021 after four seasons (2017-18 - 2020-21) with the Blues, which included him winning a Stanley Cup in 2019. In 2020-21, Blais set career-highs in goals (8) and points (15) while also tying his career-high mark in assists (7).
The 6-2, 210-pound forward was originally selected by the Blues in the sixth round, 176th overall, of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
