Team Notes

• BOUNCE BACK - Since Dec. 22, 2015, the Rangers have posted a 26-4-1 record in the game following a loss (regulation or overtime/shootout). New York has posted a 9-0-1 record in games following a loss in 2016-17.
• UNITED NATIONS - The Rangers had at least one player from eight different countries in tonight's lineup: Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, and the United States of America.
• YOUTH SERVED- All of the Rangers' 12 forwards that played in tonight's game were younger than 30 years old. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Rangers played a game in which all of their forwards were younger than 30 years old prior to tonight was Mar. 8, 1987 vs. Calgary (Walt Poddubny, Bobby Carpenter, Kelly Kisio, Don Maloney, Jan Erixon, George McPhee, Raimo Helminen, Tony McKegney, Jay Caufield, Tomas Sandstrom, Lucien DeBlois, and Ron Duguay).
• POINT TAKEN - The Blueshirts have not been held pointless in two consecutive games thus far this season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Rangers went 28 games into a season without being held pointless in two or more consecutive games was 1971-72, when the team had its first two-game losing streak in games 68 and 69 of the season.
• MAKING THE DIFFERENCE- The Rangers lead the NHL in goal differential this season (plus-29; 99 goals for, 70 goals against) and have posted a plus-29 goal differential or better through the first 28 games of one season for the first time since 1993-94.
• ROAD WARRIORS- New York leads the NHL in road wins since the start of the 2013-14 season (80). The Rangers have earned a win in seven of their last 10 road games (7-3-0).
• TWO GOOD- The Rangers have allowed two goals or fewer in regulation/overtime in 18 of 28 games this season. New York has posted a 15-2-1 record when allowing two or fewer goals in regulation/overtime in 2016-17.
• WHAT A LINE - Over the last three games, Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan, and Mats Zuccarello have registered 11 points (four goals, seven assists). Each of the three players has registered at least three points over the span (Kreider - three goals, one assist; Stepan - one goal, three assists; Zuccarello - three assists).
• SPECIAL TEAMS - The Rangers have outscored their opponent on special teams in 13 of 28 games this season and have posted a 10-3-0 record in those 13 contests.

• Chris Kreider tallied a goal and registered three shots on goal. Kreider extended his point streak to four games (three goals, two assists), tying his career-high. Kreider has now posted a four-game point streak twice this season (Oct. 13 - Oct. 19; three goals, four assists over the span) and five times in his NHL career. He has registered a point in 13 of 22 games he has played this season. Kreider has tallied all of his seven goals and 15 of his 18 points this season in game situations which the Rangers have either led by one goal, trailed by one goal, or were tied in the contest, and he leads the Rangers in points in those situations in 2016-17.
• Kevin Hayesregistered a power play goal, which was the game-winning goal, and recorded four shots on goal. Hayes is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (three), ranks second in points (20), and is tied for second in goals (11) this season.
• Antti Raanta stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced to earn the win. He has allowed two goals or fewer in each of his last seven starts, as well as in each of his last eight appearances. Raanta has posted a 6-1-0 record, along with a 1.91 GAA and a .935 SV% in eight starts this season. In addition, he has posted a 4-0-0 record, along with a 1.50 GAA and a .952 SV% in four starts/appearances on the road in 2016-17.

Blueshirt Breakdown

• Derek Stepan recorded an assist in 19:23 of ice time. The Rangers alternate captain is tied for the team lead in assists in 2016-17 (14). Stepan has recorded five points (one goal, four assists) in the last four games and eight points (three goals, five assists) in the last 10 contests. Stepan's assist was his 208th career assist as a Ranger, breaking a tie with Tomas Sandstrom for 28th place on the franchise's all-time assists list. Stepan has tallied an assist on four of Chris Kreider's seven goals this season - including each of Kreider's last four goals - and he has notched the primary assist on three of those goals.
• Ryan McDonagh registered an assist on the game-winning goal and recorded two shots on goal while skating in a team-high 23:50 of ice time. The Rangers captain is tied for the team lead in assists (14) this season, and he has led the Blueshirts in ice time in 26 of 28 contests in 2016-17.
• J.T. Miller tallied an assist on the game-winning goal. He leads the Rangers in points this season (21; eight goals, 13 assists), and he also leads the Blueshirts in games with a point this season (16). The Rangers have posted a 15-1-0 record in games which he has tallied a point in 2016-17.
• Mats Zuccarello notched an assist in 17:40 of ice time. He has registered three assists/points in the last three games and eight points (one goal, seven assists) in the last 12 contests.
• Marc Staalskated in his 645th career game with the Rangers in tonight's contest, passing Rod Seiling for sole possession of 18th place on the franchise's all-time games played list. In addition, Staal now ranks eighth in career games played by a Rangers defenseman in franchise history.
• Nicklas Jensen made his Rangers debut in tonight's contest. Jensen, a native of Herning, Denmark, is the first Danish player who has appeared in a game with the Rangers in franchise history.
