STEM Day at Little Caesars Arena, driven by the Red Wings and Chevrolet, celebrates and rewards students for their participation in a hockey-themed educational course - Future Goals™ - Hockey Scholar - that takes them on an exciting education journey with a goal of winning the Stanley Cup. This no-cost program offered by the Detroit Red Wings is designed to enable elementary and middle school students to develop important science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills and understand the real-world application of these disciplines.
In support of future educational endeavors, the Red Wings and Chevrolet will once again donate $30,000 to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation to purchase STEM technology equipment for the school district. STEM Day at Little Caesars Arena and the donation from the Red Wings and Chevrolet is part of a long-term, community impact investment within the city of Detroit. Chevrolet has also purchased and donated tickets to DPSCD for the Red Wings vs. Florida Panthers game on March 16, allowing attending STEM Day students and their families the opportunity to return to Little Caesars Arena for a hockey game.
On Thursday, participating students will have the opportunity to participate in five interactive stations that help bring STEM concepts to life and illustrate how skills intersect with the sport of hockey. Stations will include a hockey pass and shot in a pair of on-ice sessions, a Zamboni and Chevrolet Bolt EV tour, an equipment and "Hockey 101" presentation and a "Topshot" station, focused on shooting the puck in specific areas of a goal with precision. Warrior Hockey will also be on-site with its "Equipped to Play" station to teach students about the how its hockey equipment is manufactured and utilized.
