The Red Wings' newest fan-engagement initiative is a Virtual Trivia Nights series, presented by DTE Energy, where the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and Detroit Tigers Foundation are teaming up to test fans on their knowledge of the Red Wings and Tigers, as well as Detroit trivia and general pop culture.
Starting Thursday, December 10, fans are invited to team up with friends, family, coworkers or all of the above and compete from home for a chance to win a $1,000 championship grand prize, as well as exclusive Red Wings and Tigers merchandise and major bragging rights!
"While we can't all be together at the moment, Virtual Trivia Nights are the next best way to rally your friends, virtually of course, and support two great causes," said Red Wings and Tigers director of community impact Kevin Brown. "We're thankful for our partnership with DTE Energy, who shares the Red Wings and Tigers Foundations' deeply rooted approach to positively impacting our community."
Each Trivia Night will have a different guest host, including Tigers play-by-play radio voice Dan Dickerson, Red Wings play-by-play radio voice Ken Kal, 97.1 The Ticket radio host Heather Park and The Word on Woodward panelists Daniella Bruce and Carley Johnston, with events held December 10 and 17, as well as January 14 and 21, with a Championship Event on Thursday, January 28.
First-place teams from each Trivia Night will receive Red Wings/Tigers dual-logo prizes, and the first and second-place teams from each event will advance to the championship, where the winning team will earn a $1,000 grand prize to be used in the Team Store at Little Caesars Arena or The D Shop at Comerica Park.
Trivia Night registration is $175 per team, per event, with teams comprised of at least five people. In addition to friends and family joining their team, fans are invited to participate in a weekly auction for a chance to have a Red Wings or Tigers player or alumnus join their team for a night.
The Red Wings player set to join a team for the first Trivia Night on December 10 is free-agent forward signee Vladislav Namestnikov, and the Tigers representative will be catcher Eric Haase. Participating players in the remaining events will be announced one week prior to each event.
"We knew these events wouldn't be complete without inviting a few Red Wings and Tigers players to join the fun," Brown said. "Our fans not only get a chance to compete for amazing prizes, but they also have an opportunity to bid on their favorite current and former players to join their team and compete in Trivia Nights with them."
A special memorabilia auction will also be held throughout the series, featuring unique used and autographed items from the Red Wings and Tigers. This auction will be open until Thursday, January 28 at 8:00 p.m.
So compile the biggest Red Wings and Tigers fans you know, along with your smartest friends, family and co-workers to register for one of several Virtual Trivia Nights for your chance to win big.
