A native of Pelhrimov, Czech Republic, Frk was also a member of the 2017 Calder Cup-champion Griffins and scored the game-winning goal during the third period of a Game 6 win over the Syracuse Crunch to clinch the championship. He also posted an AHL career-best 50 points (27-23-50) in 65 regular-season games with the team in 2016-17 and totaled 118 points (63-55-118) and 185 penalty minutes in 214 games over his four seasons with the team (2013-17). Frk was originally drafted by Detroit in the second round (49th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Halifax Mooseheads from 2010-13 prior to turning pro. He racked up 163 points (73-90-163) and 200 penalty minutes in 152 games with the Mooseheads, capping off his QMJHL career with QMJHL and CHL Memorial Cup championships in 2012-13.
Cholowski, 20, scored in his NHL debut against Columbus on Oct. 4 and picked up two assists in his second NHL game (Oct. 7 at Los Angeles) after making the Red Wings out of training camp. He's gone on to appear in 52 games with the Red Wings this season, totaling 16 points (7-9-16). Cholowski shares the team lead with four power-play goals and is tied for 17th in NHL rookie scoring, sitting third among first-year defensemen. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound blueliner has also contributed 50 blocked shots, which ranks fourth on the Red Wings.
Originally drafted by the Red Wings in the first round (20th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the Langley, British Columbia, native has made two career appearances with the Griffins, logging one regular-season game in 2016-17 and one Calder Cup Playoff game in 2017-18. He spent the 2017-18 campaign in the Western Hockey League, splitting his season between the Prince George Cougars and Portland Winterhawks, totaling 66 points (14-52-66) in 69 games between the two teams and adding seven points (5-2-7) in 12 WHL playoff games with Portland. Prior to that, Cholowski spent one season at St. Cloud State University in 2016-17 and notched 12 points (1-11-12) in 36 games.
