The road trip was scheduled to begin against Anaheim on Thursday, but COVID-related issues forced a postponement. It was the fifth game the Wings have had postponed this season.
In a quick turnaround, Detroit will be looking for a more urgent effort against Anaheim.
"We didn't win puck battles. We didn't move our feet," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said on Saturday night. "We didn't get pucks behind them. I would say we cheated on 50-50 battles for offense, the guys away from the puck, and it all resulted in us playing in our end and giving up real chances. We're a way better hockey team than that, but you can't allow that to happen. The urgency has to be way better."
Anaheim will also be playing the second half of a back-to-back after dropping a 4-1 decision against the visiting New York Rangers on Saturday.
Seider, Raymond and Zegras were the respective October, November and December NHL "Rookies of the Month," and have provided steady scoring in their debut seasons. Raymond also ranks second among NHL rookies with 10 goals, while Zegras is currently tied for fourth with eight goals. The trio also owns the top-three assist marks for rookies, with Raymond and Seider tied atop the NHL with 19 assists each, and Zegras ranked third with 17. Drysdale has 13 assists on the season, which is currently tied for fourth among NHL rookies.
Ducks goalie John Gibson was scratched before Anaheim played the Rangers, prompting coach Dallas Eakins to insert Anthony Stolarz. Stolarz, who projects to also start against Detroit, is 6-3-1 with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage.
The Red Wings and Ducks are scheduled to play twice in the next 23 days, with Anaheim paying a return visit to Little Caesars Arena on Jan. 31.
