LOS ANGELES -- The Detroit Red Wings opened their three-game west coast road trip with a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena.
Playing their first game in four days, the Red Wings stumbled out of the gate and were outshot, 27-2, in the first period. Detroit finished with 21 shots against the Kings and was shut out for only the fourth time this season. It was the Wings' first scoreless outing since losing to the Washington Capitals, 2-0, on Nov. 11.
Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic made 38 saves in the losing effort while Filip Hronek played his 200th career NHL game and had two shots on goal in 22:07 of ice time.

With the loss, the Red Wings dropped to 16-16-3 this season while the Kings moved to 17-13-5 overall and improved to 11-8-2 at Crypto.com Arena.
NEXT UP: The Wings will play the second game of a back-to-back on Sunday night as they face the Anaheim Ducks. Puck drop from the Honda Center is set for 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT with coverage on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network.
Detroit initially was set to play the Ducks on Thursday, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Ducks organization.

Just after the Kings' power play expired, Phillip Danault scored the game's opening goal off a rebound to put the Wings in an early 1-0 hole.
Detroit 0, Los Angeles 2 (9:06, 1st Period)
A few minutes later, Los Angeles doubled its early lead off a one-timer by Drew Doughty for a 2-0 advantage.
Detroit 0, Los Angeles 3 (16:23, 2nd Period)
The Kings capitalized off a Red Wings turnover and struck again, this time on a shorthanded effort by Adrian Kempe to make it a 3-0 game.
Detroit 0, Los Angeles 4 (17:29, 3rd Period)
Trevor Moore capped the scoring and put the game away with an empty-netter late for a 4-0 score.

Daniella Bruce makes history on Saturday evening

Daniella Bruce made history on Saturday as she became the first woman in Red Wings history to be on any Wings' radio broadcast. Alongside Ken Kal, Bruce served as the color analyst on the Red Wings Radio Network broadcast. She will return to the booth for Sunday's broadcast between Detroit and Anaheim.
