BUFFALO - Riding the rollercoaster of a busy NHL schedule can be tough, especially having to immediately refocus 24 hours after a historic, emotional win.

But the Detroit Red Wings will have to do just that after earning their first four-goal comeback win on the road in franchise history in a 5-4 overtime victory on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Red Wings quickly turn their attention to the second game of a midweek back-to-back road set, as they face the division-rival Buffalo Sabres at the KeyBank Center on Thursday night.
Puck drop between Detroit (15-11-7; 37 points) and Buffalo (16-14-2; 34 points) is set for 7 p.m., with broadcast coverage on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).

After the emotional victory on Wednesday, Detroit is looking to close out 2022 on a positive note and ride the positive momentum into the new year.
"Nothing changes. We take this into tomorrow and keep building this little streak now," David Perron said after Wednesday's win. "We had six losses in a row. Now we've got points in three in a row and five out of six. Why not make it seven out of eight?"
Detroit is looking for its first victory against Buffalo this season after falling on the road, 8-3, on Oct. 31 and suffering a 5-4 overtime loss at Little Caesars Arena on Nov. 30.
Captain Dylan Larkin scored his 13th goal of the season on Wednesday, and he leads Detroit with 32 points coming into Thursday's divisional matchup.
Larkin, who has 22 points in 26 career games against Buffalo, said the Red Wings can't afford another slow start against the surging Sabres.
"We're going into Buffalo and we need to be ready to go, and ready to go for a full 60," Larkin said Wednesday.

Buffalo was red-hot in mid-December, winning its last four games, including a 3-2 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Dec. 19. But the Sabres are coming off a rare 10-day layoff after having their last two games postponed due to inclement weather.
Forward Tage Thompson leads Buffalo in scoring with 50 points on 26 goals and 24 assists in 32 games. The Sabres boast a balanced attack, with four 30-point scorers in defenseman Rasmus Dahlin (37), and forwards Jeff Skinner (36), Alex Tuch (35) and Dylan Couzens (31).
Three Sabres goalies have split duties between the pipes this season, with 20-year NHL veteran Craig Anderson leading the way with a 7-4-1 record, a 2.65 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in 13 games. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has platooned with Anderson recently, winning four of his last five starts.
The Red Wings will face the Sabres once more after Thursday's matchup, hosting Buffalo in the third-to-last home game of the season on April 6.
