It's a small sample size, but Detroit Red Wings goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa is shining under the bright lights of the 2022 Western Hockey League Playoffs for the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Cossa, Detroit's 15th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, has a 9-1 record with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage through 10 postseason games, including three shutouts.
The 19-year-old finished third among WHL goalies in wins (33), shutouts (six), and goals-against average (2.28) in the 2021-22 regular season. On April 21, Cossa was named the Central Division nominee for the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the WHL Goaltender of the Year.

Cossa and the Oil Kings are in a 1-1 series tie against the Winnipeg ICE in the WHL Eastern Conference Championship Series. Game 3 in the best-of-seven series is set for Monday night at Rogers Place.

Hirose had four points in 15 games with Detroit during the 2021-22 campaign, and he also appeared in 59 games for the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins this past season, recording 15 goals and 38 assists.

Kampfer signs one-year deal with Detroit

Kampfer spent the 2021-22 season with Ak Bars Kazan in the Kontinental Hockey League, totaling 11 goals and 19 assists in 46 games, including four points in six playoff games. The Ann, Arbor, Mich., native has appeared in 231 NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins.
A product of the Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club, Kampfer played four seasons at the University of Michigan from 2006-10, amassing 60 points and a plus-65 rating in 147 games.

2022 NHL Awards to be announced throughout the month of June

Last Thursday, the NHL announced it will host a live, one-hour NHL Awards show during the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday, June 21.
The show will reveal the winners of the Calder Memorial Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, James Norris Memorial Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, Vezina Trophy and E.J. McGuire Award of Excellence. It will begin at 7 p.m. on ESPN, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
The league will also announce the winners of the other annual awards, including the Bill Masterton Trophy, from June 1-7 during the conference finals in pregame shows on ESPN, Turner, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
Red Wings rookie defenseman Moritz Seider is one of the three finalists for the Calder Trophy
, while veteran defenseman Marc Staal is the Detroit Professional Hockey Writers Association Chapter's nominee for the Masterton Trophy.
