Kubalik, 26, has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, totaling 116 points (62-54-116) and 50 penalty minutes in 202 games. The 6-foot-2, 179-pound winger finished among the team leaders last season with 15 goals (5th), 17 assists (T7th), 32 points (7th) and 161 shots (4th) in 78 games. During his first campaign with the Blackhawks and first pro season in North America in 2019-20, Kubalik led all NHL rookies with 30 goals, recording 46 points (30-16-46), 16 penalty minutes and plus-two rating in 68 games en route to being named a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy and a member of the NHL All-Rookie Team. He also went on to chip in eight points (4-4-8) in nine postseason games for Chicago during his rookie season.
Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Kubalik played five professional seasons in Europe (2014-19) before joining the Blackhawks. During his final season in Switzerland's National League playing for HC Ambri-Piotta in 2018-19, Kubalik was named the league's Most Valuable Player after leading the circuit with 57 points (25-32-57) in 50 games. He also played four seasons with Plzen HC of the Czech Extraliga, recording 119 points (73-46-119) in 154 games from 2014-18. Prior to turning pro, Kubalik suited up for two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, totaling 63 points (35-28-63) in 126 games between the Sudbury Wolves and Kitchener Rangers from 2012-14. <>
A native of Plzen, Czech Republic, Kubalik has represented his country on numerous occasions, including the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. He has also represented the Czech Republic at three IIHF Men's World Championships (2021, 2019, 2018), along with the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal and the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in Sochi, Russia.
