COLUMBUS -- Despite being down two forwards going into the game and losing another in Thomas Vanek early in the first, the Red Wings came out on fire.
But they had to respond when the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied to the tie the game with three goals in the third period.

The Wings kept their poise, kept working and earned a 5-3 victory at Nationwide Arena Tuesday night, snapping a seven-game losing streak against the Blue Jackets.
Michael Rasmussen (power play, first career goal), Dylan Larkin (shorthanded and empty net), Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi scored for the Wings.
Josh Anderson, Markus Nutivaara and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for the Blue Jackets.
Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard had 34 saves.
Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots. Sergei Bobrovsky had 23 saves.
The Wings improved to 3-7-2 and the Blue Jackets fell to 6-5-0.
Up next for the Wings is a home date against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. The Blue Jackets head west to visit the San Jose Sharks the same night.
1. Dylan Larkin: With Justin Abdelkader in the box for slashing and the Wings on the penalty kill, Larkin managed to evade All-Star defenseman Seth Jones and went in along on Korpisalo, beating him through the five-hole at 9:30 of the first. It was the first shorthanded goal the Blue Jackets had allowed this season and the second one that Larkin had scored this season. He also scored shorthanded Oct. 13 at Boston. Larkin also scored the empty-net goal at 19:17 to seal the win. With his assist on Mantha's goal, Larkin now has three goals and six assists in 11 games against Columbus. Larkin finished with a team-high 23:04 in ice time and a team-high seven shots. He had three takeaways, won 14-of-25 face-offs and finished plus-1.

Quotable: "I was getting some puck luck in the first. Pucks we're bouncing on our sticks and we were going down on two on ones and three on ones. I get the puck in the corner and I look up and it was like the seas parted and Mo was on a breakaway. I thought it was an open game. There was a lot of back and forth. It was an exciting game and we traded chance for chance. Howie played great, our power play and penalty kill played great. It's not the way we want to play but I felt really good tonight and I felt my legs were moving. It was like I said a lot of pucks bouncing and getting a ton of chances. I think we could've had more but it was a fun game." -- Larkin
Quotable II: "I thought Larks played excellent the whole night. His No. 1 attribute is his competitiveness and there's no way he wants to be part of where our record is at and he wants to do everything possible to change that. Sometimes that can hurt him because you over-try at times but I'll take it all day long. He's an excellent competitor. I thought he was excellent, I thought Mantha was excellent the first two periods for sure, really skating well. So that's a good thing for us." -- Wings coach Jeff Blashill
Quotable III: "He's been tremendous for us this year. He's been one of our best players night in and night out. He's been flying, creating a lot of havoc in the offensive zone, really responsible in the defensive zone. He's made so many great strides, that's for sure." -- Howard
2. Michael Rasmussen: It was kind of fitting that in the game that burned the first year of his entry-level contract, Rasmussen scored his first career NHL goal. The Wings got the early power play as Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson was called for hooking at :52 of the first period. Gustav Nyquist sent the puck to Thomas Vanek behind the net and Vanek sent it into the middle of the slot where Rasmussen was waiting. The normally calm Rasmussen gave a celebratory fist pump after the goal, which gave the Wings the early 1-0 lead. Rasmussen, forced into playing center due to the injury issues, finished with 20 shifts for 13:29, had four shots, two hits, a giveaway, a blocked shot and was 0-for-5 in face-offs.

Quotable: "It was good. Got a power play there and good job by Mo drawing it there and just running a little play and then he made a great pass to me, so it was good that it went in there and good start. Been a little bit snake-bitten, had quite a bit of chances. Just to get that one and get the win, too, it feels better when you get the win. It was pretty lucky. All the guys in there support me really well. So it's really great to get that." -- Rasmussen

Quotable II: "Just put yourself in his shoes, it makes you feel way better when you score. It's like the team when we finally won a game. Now you get that monkey off your back a little bit and you can go play. I think Ras been excellent the last two nights. I think he's really played well the last two games." -- Blashill
3.Anthony Mantha/Tyler Bertuzzi: Blashill had been vocal about wanting Mantha to shoot more, even if it meant passing up an open teammate. Mantha and Darren Helm went in 2-on-1 on Jones and Mantha's shot from the right circle beat Korpisalo at 13:33, giving the Wings a 3-0 lead and ending Korpisalo's night. It was Mantha's second straight game with a goal and his third of the season. Larkin and Niklas Kronwall had the assists. Blashill has often praised Bertuzzi for his hockey IQ and his willingness to go to the net. After the Blue Jackets tied the game at 3, Bertuzzi went to the net and was able to shovel the rebound of Dennis Cholowski's shot past Bobrovsky at 16:36 for his fourth goal of the season. In four games against Columbus, Bertuzzi has four goals.

Quotable: "It was an excellent play by Cholo. As he was walking down, I was saying to myself, 'Make a play, kid.' And I think ball players make plays at big moments and he's a guy that's here in large part because he can make plays and I just thought to myself, make a play, make a play, and he made a play. Prior to that I thought Bert made a real good play in the O-zone to keep the play alive below the goal line. I thought Bert had a real good night, too." -- Blashill
Quotable II: "We came back and I thought the last six minutes there we got on our toes again and we got skating and forechecking and put some pressure on them. Cholo made a great play to Bert and give Bert credit. He banged in a greasy one. It was what we gotta do. That 15 minutes we were sitting back too much and we weren't getting on the forecheck like we were early in the game." -- Larkin
