Learn to Play can help your child learn and grow in all aspects of life. Playing hockey helps improve children’s physical fitness while strengthening their mental health, encouraging leadership behaviors, fostering character development, and teaching important life lessons.

We’re taking our annual celebration of youth hockey in Western New York one step further – by handing out Sabres-themed performance sunglasses, perfect to wear to and from hockey practice.

High School Hockey

High School Hockey Monthly Honorees

During each month of the high school hockey season, the Sabres will select one male and one female high school hockey player from Western New York as Buffalo Sabres High School Hockey Monthly Honorees.

Coach of the Month

During each month of hockey season, the Sabres will select one coach from Western New York as the recipient of the Sabres Coach of the Month Award.

Scholastic Programs

Student of the Game

This program is designed to incorporate floor hockey into your school’s physical education curriculum while also learning about the game of hockey. Our Buffalo Sabres staff will come with fun and exciting games for your students and all participating students will receive a complimentary Sabres ticket and a Students Of The Game t-shirt.

Ball Hockey Battle

The Sabres are excited to announce the return of our middle school intramural ball hockey program: Ball Hockey Battle. Your Intramural Director or Physical Education Staff will run a 3-6 week “regular season” with the winner participating in a championship tournament here at KeyBank Center.
