Finnigan's 8

Finnigan's 8 is a weekly recap highlighting eight top performing Ottawa Senators prospects.

Jacob Bernard-Docker (Ottawa/NHL)Season totals: 2GP / 0G / 1A / 0PIM / +1
Bernard-Docker's NHL season debut came very suddenly Saturday against Pittsburgh as he was put into the lineup shortly before puck drop when Nikita Zaitsev was added to the NHL's Covid-19 protocol.
The 21-year-old responded well, playing 8:47 and tallying his first career NHL point by notching the primary assist on Zach Sanford's goal.
Bernard-Docker followed that up with 14:36 of ice time in Sunday's game against Calgary. In 11 games in Belleville this season, he has two goals and one assist.
Ridly Greig (Brandon/WHL)Season totals: 11GP / 6G / 6A / 28PIM / -1
After missing three games, Greig returned to the Wheat Kings lineup Nov. 11 but was held pointless, snapping his nine-game point streak to start the season. However, he'd score the following night in a 2-1 loss to Saskatoon where he also registered a staggering 14 shots on goal.
Greig's 28 penalty minutes leads the Wheat Kings while he is winning 48.5 per cent of faceoffs.
Tyler Kleven (North Dakota/NCAA)Season totals: 11GP / 3G / 2A/ 31PIM / +6
Kleven had himself a two-point weekend as the Fighting Hawks swept a weekend series against Miami (OH).
He grabbed an assist in Friday's 4-1 win while on Saturday he scored his third goal of the season in a 5-4 victory.
Kleven's 31 penalty minutes leads the Fighting Hawks.
Leevi Merilainen (Kingston/OHL)Season totals: 12 GP / 7-3-2 / 3.27 GAA / .895 save percentage
It was two wins in two starts this week for Merilainen. He made a career high 38 saves Tuesday in a 4-3 shootout win over Ottawa and on Saturday he stopped 33 shots as the Fronts again won in a shootout, this time 5-4 over Mississauga.
His seven wins this season are tied for the fourth most in the OHL while his 3.27 GAA ranks ninth among goalies who have played in at least 10 games.
Jake Sanderson (North Dakota/NCAA)Season totals: 11 GP / 6G / 9A / 4PIM / +9
Sanderson had a monster weekend as he tallied six points in two games as the Fighting Hawks swept Miami (OH).
He had a pair of goals and an assist in Friday's win before scoring once and adding two assists in Saturday's victory.
His 15 points this year leads North Dakota and are the second most among defenceman in all of college hockey while his six goals are tied for the most among NCAA blueliners.
> Sanderson was elite this weekend. I haven't seen a defenceman in college like him over my years coaching college hockey. He has been an elite defender, passer, and right now is offensively dominant.

Mads Sogaard (Belleville/AHL)Season totals: 6GP / 3-3-0 / 3.08 GAA / .889 save percentage
Sogaard made 25 saves Wednesday night in a 3-0 loss in Laval but on Saturday made a season high 32 stops as the Senators beat Bridgeport 3-2 at CAA Arena.
His three wins this year lead the Senators in that category.
Egor Sokolov (Ottawa/NHL)Season totals: 4GP / 0G / 0A / 4PIM / -2
Sokolov made his NHL debut Tuesday night in Boston after being recalled by the Senators and appeared in all four Sens games this week.
The 21-year-old has averaged 11:08 a game and registered five shots, two blocks and three hits.
In nine AHL games this year, the Russian winger has two goals and six points.
Lassi Thomson (Ottawa/NHL)Season totals: 3GP / 0G / 1A / 2PIM / -3
Thomson's NHL debut came with little preparation as he was put into the Senators' lineup less than an hour before puck drop against L.A. on Thursday, but he responded spectacularly, playing 22:29.
He followed that up with another solid display in Saturday's 6-3 win over Pittsburgh where he also recorded his first NHL assist by having the secondary helper on Parker Kelly's second NHL goal.
In three NHL games, Thomson has averaged 19:51 a night and has tallied one shot, two blocks and seven hits. In six games with Belleville, the Finn has one goal and one assist.
