As the season draws closer and we count down the days to the Senators’ home opener (October 10th at 7:00 p.m. vs. the Florida Panthers), let’s look back on how our Sens fared last season, throughout their careers, and if they have any milestones on the horizon.
Today, we’re looking at Jake Sanderson’s 2023-24 season, as well as a pair of noteworthy milestones he has coming up.
Last season, Sanderson skated in 79 regular season games for the Senators. In that span, he scored ten goals and 28 assists for a total of 38 points. The 2023-24 season was a big one for the defenceman, as it saw him playing key minutes for the Sens, matched up against some of the best players on opposing teams.
Sanderson also made his IIHF World Championship debut in Czechia last year, where he skated for the United States. In eight games, he recorded four points, all assists.
The Whitefish, Montana native was drafted fifth overall by the Senators in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In 156 career regular season NHL games, Sanderson has scored fourteen goals and 56 assists for a total of 70 points.
The 22-year-old will be approaching two career milestones this season. If he skates in 44 games, Sanderson will reach 200 games played in his NHL career. As well, 30 points would see the defenceman reach his hundredth career point.
At just 38 days away, the Ottawa Senators’ home opener will be here in no time. Fans wanting to be a part of the action can still get tickets HERE!
