2568x1444-ROOKIE OF THE MONTH-MADS-NHL

With a 4-0-1 record, Mads Søgaard was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for February.

The National Hockey League announced today that Mads Sogaard has been named the Rookie of the Month for February. In five starts, Søgaard helped the team to a 4-0-1 record while saving 141 of the 153 shots he faced for a 0.922% save percentage.
When Anton Forsberg went down with a season ending injury to both knees, Søgaard was handed the keys to the net. It could have been seen as a tall task at the time with only two NHL games under his belt, however Søgaard has stood tall between the pipes.
With each game, the confidence of his game has grown and his calm demeanour has shown through. "I just try to treat every game the same, my preparation is alway the same," said Søgaard when asked about his calm presence in the net. "It's just hockey I try not to overthink it. It's just hockey, it's what I've been doing since I was four years old. I'm just having fun and making the most of this opportunity that's been given to me and working as hard as I can."
Breaking down Mads' five starts in the month of February:
Game: Saves/Shots | Save%
Vs Calgary: 34/37 | 0.919%
Vs Chicago: 28/32 | 0.875%
Vs St. Louis: 30/32 | 0.938%
At Montreal: 30/32 | 0.938%
Vs Detroit: 16/17 | 0.941%
As the season progresses Søgaard will get more chances to shine backing up Cam Talbot and showcasing that he might just be the goaltender of the future for the Ottawa Senators!
