Murray returned to practice this morning for the first time since leaving warmups with an upper-body injury on March 14 against Toronto.
"It felt great and good to be back out there and competing with everyone again," Murray said. "We're happy with how [the injury's] progressing and I felt really good today. It's been getting better and better every day and it was nice to get a full practice in and test it."
The 26-year-old, who was one of three goaltenders on the ice today alongside Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson, isn't ready to put a timeline on a date to return to action. He's just going day-to-day.
"I don't want to put anything specific on it," Murray said. "It's going in the right direction and getting better every day and that's all you can really ask for at this point. Today was a big step. It was good to get back out there again."
Murray is 7-12-1 in 22 games this year with a 3.84 GAA and .880 save percentage. In the six games Murray has missed, Joey Daccord made three starts, Gustavsson two and Forsberg one. Marcus Hogberg, who hasn't played an NHL game since Feb. 18, made a start for the Belleville Senators Friday night, collecting the win after making 30 saves.
"Joey was playing really well and it's tough to see him go down with an injury too, and obviously Hoggy too went down," Murray said. "I thought Gus played well in both games, and Forsberg stepped in the other night and played extremely well so that's awesome to see.
"The team is playing really well in front of the guys and I just really like the way we've looked as a team. That's obviously really exciting to see that."
