NoDakSens

For the first time ever, all four University of North Dakota draft picks for the Senators laced up their skates together last night.

When it comes to pro sports there is nothing quite like a career first. Every player in the NHL could likely recant to you their first game, first point, first goal, first win and more. While those are expected firsts when a player has made it to the show last night we all got to soak up a new first. All four Ottawa Senators draft picks from the University of North Dakota from the 2018 to the 2020 NHL Drafts hit the ice together for the first time. A special moment to say the least.

Colloquially known as the NoDakSens, an homage to their upbringing at University of North Dakota and culminating in their draft and subsequent tenure with the Ottawa Senators. The group consists of defencemen Jacob Bernard-Docker, Jake Sanderson and Tyler Kleven and forward Shane Pinto.
While Sanderson and Pinto have carved out prominent roles with the Senators, Kleven just signed his entry level contract last week to join the organization and Bernard-Docker has grown his role spending more time in the NHL this season than the previous two combined. In signing Kleven and recalling Bernard-Docker ahead of the Senators game against Toronto, it was a known reality that we were all going to see the NoDakSens in action for the first time and it was clear that everyone was buzzing.

To game day arrivals:

Though the result didn't go the way the Senators would have liked it did showcase the future of this organization and the real pipeline of talent they have sourced from the University of North Dakota! With Sanderson, Bernard-Docker and Kleven each on a separate defensive pairing last night, there was almost never a time that one of the NoDakSens were on the ice.
The NoDakSens era is just getting started here in Ottawa. Below are the career stats for each of the young Senators:
Shane Pinto: 93 GP; 21 G; 20 A; 41 P

Jake Sanderson: 71 GP ; 4 G; 25 A; 29 P
Jacob Bernard-Docker: 27 GP; 0 G; 2 A; 2 P
