OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Tyler Motte on a one-year contract. The contract carries a value of $1.35M for the 2022-23 season.

Motte, 27, spent the majority of the 2021-22 campaign with the Vancouver Canucks before a March 21 trade to the New York Rangers and registered 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) and 22 penalty minutes over 58 games between the two teams. While he was held scoreless over nine regular-season games with the Rangers, he did record two points (two goals) over 15 post-season contests in helping New York reach the Eastern Conference Final.
"Tyler is a tenacious checker who plays the game with pace," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He's a strong penalty killer and another competitive person who adds to the depth of our group."
A native of St. Clair, Mich., Motte was originally selected in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. In 269 career NHL games with Chicago, the Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver and the Rangers, he has recorded 62 points (35 goals, 27 assists) and 76 penalty minutes.
Internationally, Motte most recently represented his country when he helped Team U.S.A. reach the bronze medal game at the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Russia, earning three points (one goal, two assists) while skating in each of the Americans' 10 tournament games.
