OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that former Senator Wade Redden has joined the team as a development coach. He will join the team this morning at the team's annual development camp which begins at 9 a.m. at Canadian Tire Centre.

"Wade's addition is a significant one for our development staff," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He'll be especially integral in helping mold our prospects on defence. A leader throughout his playing career, we know the same qualities will translate very well in this new role."
Redden, 45, is the franchise's all-time leader in plus/minus rating (+159), ranks fourth in games (838), fifth in points (410) and sixth in penalty minutes (576). He joins Shean Donovan and Jesse Winchester in supporting and helping to develop the team's prospects, with a particular focus on the defensive group of players within the Senators' system.
A veteran of 14 NHL seasons, Redden played in 1,023 career regular-season games with Ottawa, the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins totaling 457 points (109 goals, 348 assists) and 665 penalty minutes. Internationally, the Lloydminster, Sask., native helped Canada win gold medals at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 1995 and 1996 IIHF World Junior Championship. He previously served as assistant director of player development for the Nashville Predators from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
