It wasn't something he expected, but it's something Shane Pinto will remember.

For Saturday's rookie contest against Montreal, which the Ottawa Senators won 4-3, Pinto wore the 'C' on his jersey.
"It was pretty cool," Pinto said of being named captain. "I know it's just a rookie game but I found it pretty cool. I took pride in that and I'm happy we got the win."
For head coach Troy Mann, the decision was made Friday about what they would do with the letters for Saturday's game.
"I thought Shane was the player that stood out the most during the course of rookie camp in terms of his two-way play and his compete," Mann said. "He was staying out late working on his game, asking questions, so we thought he would be a good choice."
In additon, Cole Reinhardt and Jacob Bernard-Docker had an 'A' on their jersey Saturday night. Both players have previously worn the 'A' with Reinhardt wearing it during the 2019-20 WHL season with Brandon and Bernard-Docker last season with North Dakota.
"I thought Reinhardt had a good camp and had flown under the radar a little bit so we wanted to show some confidence in him as I think he's a really good player and will be very important for Belleville this year and we think he has the opportunity to play in the NHL at some point," Mann said.
For Reinhardt, it came as a surprise to see an 'A' on his jersey.
"It was super cool," Reinhardt said. "It was surreal to walk into the room. To wear a letter was overwhelming and I didn't expect that and I am honoured to wear it for Troy and the coaching staff."
