20241114 v PHI AC 018

The Ottawa Senators fell in overtime on the ice, but off the ice the fans got to experience amazing parts of our local indigenous culture while the Senators Community Foundation made a difference across the National Capital Region.

The annual game at Canadian Tire Centre was presented by Indigenous Tourism Ontario and brought a wide variety of vibrant performances, educational exhibits, and special tributes that highlight the heritage and history of Indigenous peoples.

The pregame celebrations kicked off with a moving national anthem sung by Aiyana Louis. This was followed by a heart-warming ceremonial puck drop featuring Kevin Verch and Karen Smith.

The experience didn’t end there as the intermissions featured hoop dancing, a drum group and indigenous art work for sale on the concourse.

The Senators Community Foundation had a silent auction featuring local art work and Senators memorabilia as well as a portion of the 50/50 proceeds went to support local programs.

With help from our incredible corporate partners like Presenting Sponsor, Indigenous Tourism Ontario and Calian, the evening raised more than $40,000 which will have a direct impact on children and youth and their families in the Ottawa-Gatineau region through indigenous programming and access to sport at non-profits such as First Assist, Odawa Native Friendship Centre, Maniwaki Native Friendship Centre and Their Opportunity”

Our next home game will be our annual Hockey Fights Cancer night. Fans can purchase tickets here.
