VandeVelde, 30, has played in 278 career National Hockey League games with the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers scoring 18 goals and adding 30 assists. Last season the 6-2, 190-pound native of Moorehead, Minn., played in 81 games for the Flyers, scoring six goals and earning nine assists.
Ottawa opens its annual training camp on Thursday at Canadian Tire Centre. Fans can have their first look at this year's team during Ottawa Senators Fan Fest, presented by Canadian Tire, when it takes place on Sunday, Sept. 17.
