"We were pleased with what Anthony was able to add to our lineup after his acquisition," said general manager Pierre Dorion. "This signing improves our team speed and scoring depth up front. Anthony's speed and skill can be dynamic and at only 23 years old, we feel he has the chance to grow into a really consistent contributor."
A native of Pointe-Claire, Que., Duclair, was acquired by the Senators along with two second-round draft choices (2020 and 2021) from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 23 in exchange for forward Ryan Dzingel and a seventh-round draft pick (which had previously been acquired from the Calgary Flames) in next weekend's NHL Draft.
Having concluded the 2018-19 campaign by way of recording at least one point in eight of the Senators' final 12 regular-season games, Duclair ultimately registered 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists) and 14 penalty minutes over 74 contests with Columbus and Ottawa last season. He also established a new NHL career high in tallying three game-winning goals, his third of which helped the Senators to a 4-0 win over Buffalo on March 26 and the 500th home victory in franchise history.
Originally selected in the third round (80th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft by the N.Y. Rangers, Duclair has registered 122 points (56 goals, 66 assists) and 97 penalty minutes over 287 NHL games with the Rangers, the Arizona Coyotes, the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus and the Senators.
