OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the team has signed forward Dylan Gambrell to a one-year contract extension. The contract has a value of $950,000 for the 2022-23 season.

Gambrell, 25, appeared in a new NHL career-high 63 contests with the Senators in 2021-22 over which he tallied seven points (three goals, four assists) and 12 penalty minutes after being acquired in a trade with the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 24. He also skated in three games with the Sharks' American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, registering one point (one assist) and four penalty minutes.
"Dylan's versatility is one of his greatest strengths," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "He quickly earned the trust of our coaching staff as an effective penalty killer who could be relied upon in any situation from the centre position."
A native of Bonney Lake, Wash., Gambrell was one of five Senators to record a shorthanded goal in 2021-22 and will enter the 2022-23 campaign having skated in 173 games for his NHL career, split between San Jose and Ottawa, over which he has registered 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) and 44 penalty minutes.
