OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the team has signed goaltender Anton Forsberg to a three-year, $8.25M contract extension. The contract has an average annual value of $2.75 million and includes the following breakdown: $2.55M in 2022-23, $2.95M in 2023-24 and $2.75M in 2024-25.

Forsberg, 29, is in the midst of his second campaign with the Senators after originally being claimed off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets on March 17, 2021. Through 31 contests this season, he has earned a record of 14-12-2 while posting a goals-against average of 2.77 and a .918 save percentage. With 17 career victories for Ottawa, he will enter tomorrow night's game on Long Island one win shy of moving into a tie for 15th place (Alex Auld) among all-time Senators goaltenders in wins.
A native of Harnosand, Sweden, Forsberg was originally selected in the seventh round (188th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 87 career NHL games over six-plus seasons with Columbus, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Senators, he has posted a record of 29-41-7 while registering a 3.05 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.
Internationally, Forsberg represented his country when he helped Team Sweden earn a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship in Calgary.
