OTTAWA - The
Ottawa Senators
announced today that the club has signed goaltender Filip Gustavsson to a two-year contract. The first (two-way) year of the contract will carry an annual value of $750,000 in the National Hockey League and $125,000 in the American Hockey League. The second (one-way) year of the contract has an annual value of $825,000.

Gustavsson, 23, made his NHL debut with the Senators in 2020-21 and posted a record of 5-1-2 over nine games while earning a team-best 2.16 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage. He also made 13 AHL appearances with the Belleville Senators over which he registered a 5-7-1 record.
"We were very pleased with Filip's performance last season," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "After spending the early part of the year playing in Sweden, it was evident to us that he is committed to continually improve his overall game. He's someone we regard as a high-end talent and we're looking forward to seeing his progress in 2021-22."
A native of Skelleftea, Sweden, Gustavsson was originally selected in the second round (55th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. In addition to his nine NHL games last season with Ottawa, he has registered a career mark of 34-35-5 over 75 contests with Belleville, including two AHL shutout victories.
Internationally, Gustavsson helped Team Sweden earn a silver medal at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, N.Y.
