tkachuk-oct17-NHL

The Sens will be without Brady Tkachuk for the next few weeks after the rookie sustained a torn ligament in his leg during Monday's win over the Stars.

Tkachuk has accustomed himself nicely to the NHL during his first 4 games, recording 3 goals and 3 assists over that span.
"It's a tough one for him," said head coach Guy Boucher who relayed the details about Tkachuk's injury following today's practice in Gatineau. "It's a tough one for us too because he was doing so well. He's a big part of our identity."
The injury news comes as a bit of a surprise to most as Tkachuk was able to finish Monday's game and even scored the game-winning goal in the third period en route to a 4-1 win against Dallas.
"I knew that there was something there but he finished so well," Boucher said. "If it was up to him, he'd be on the ice today. He's a tough kid and certainly not someone who's looking to bail out that's for sure."

The "good" news is that Tkachuk won't need surgery to repair the damage to the ligament and instead just needs time on the shelf to let the injury heal.
"It's a normal tear that has to take its time," said Boucher. "It's not something that you can accelerate. Those types of tears take X amount of days to heal."
While Tkachuk will be absent from the line-up for the next month or so, the Sens will be getting some re-enforcements this weekend when they host Montreal. Mark Stone, who didn't practice today, is expected to play while Ryan Dzingel and Max McCormick are likely to come off the IR ahead of Saturday's game against the Canadiens.
The Sens are still expected to be without Cody Ceci (upper body injury) and Alex Formenton (concussion) but both have made progress in their recovery.
