The Ottawa Senators announced that they have traded forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 2024 conditional fourth round draft pick and a 2025 third round draft pick.
As a part of the trade, the Senators will retain 50% of Tarasenko's salary giving the Senators $7,200,000 in cap space. The condition on the 2024 draft pick is that if Florida were to win the 2024 Stanley Cup, the pick would upgrade to become Florida’s 2026 third round draft pick.
With the acquisition of these draft picks the Senators now hold 21 draft picks through the upcoming three NHL Drafts, with the positioning of the picks subject to change based on Florida’s results.
Tarasenko has played 57 games for the Senators since signing a one-year deal in the offseason tallying 17 goals and adding 24 assists for 47 total points. After spending the bulk of his career in St. Louis, Taraasenko will move at the trade deadline to a contending team for the second time in as many seasons. In his 12 NHL seasons he has amassed 287 goals and 328 assists for 615 career points.
