The Ottawa Senators announced today that they have signed forward, Vladimir Tarasenko to a one-year deal.
Last summer Pierre Dorion swung for the fences in free agency and got Claude Giroux. Well he's followed that up this summer with another big splash in veteran forward, Vladimir Tarasenko!
Tarasenko joins the Senators on a one-year deal with an AAV of $5 million.
A former 40-goal scorer, Tarasenko packs a scoring punch for this Senators group. Tarasenko should fit right in with this top-six forward core, immediately filling the void left by the Alex DeBrincat trade.
The 11-year veteran has seen it all in his career scoring 270 goals while adding 304 helpers for 574 total points across 675 career games. He also adds a championship pedigree to the core having won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues. For a team that was just six points shy of making the playoffs last season, that experience is truly invaluable.
With his scoring touch and the way this team has gelled, don't be surprised to see him put up big numbers in a Senators jersey. As we saw last season with Giroux who set a career high in goals in his first season with the Senators.
