In April, the NHL, the NHLPA and Live Nation Sweden announced that the Predators and Sharks, along with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche will participate in the 2022 NHL Global Series. The Sharks and Predators will open the 2022-23 regular season against each other in Prague, Czech Republic, at O2 Arena with games on Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8.
Prior to their games in Prague, the Sharks will complete their training camp in Berlin, Germany, and will play in an exhibition match in the 2022 NHL Global Series Challenge Germany. The Sharks will face off against Eisbären Berlin at Mercedes-Benz Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
A local television broadcast schedule for the Sharks 2022 NHL Global Series games will be announced at a later date.
This will mark the second time the Sharks have played on European soil, last appearing in the 2010 NHL Premiere in Stockholm, Sweden, and third appearance in a contest outside North America. The team also took part in the NHL's Game One event in Tokyo, Japan when the team held "home and home" regular season games against the Calgary Flames to start the 1998-99 campaign.
