The San Jose Sharks are back from the holiday break and face the Calgary Flames at SAP Center tonight. This will be the Sharks last home game in 2017. In fact, it will be the last game the Sharks play on home ice until the middle of January 2018 as they head on a long Canadian roadtrip kicking off in Dallas on New Year's Eve.
The Sharks last game sent Team Teal off to holiday break on a high note, defeating California rivals the Los Angeles Kings in a 2-0 shutout. Martin Jones made 28 saves, registered his third shutout of the season and he also tallied his 100th career win against his former team. Marcus Sorensen put the Sharks on the board first and scored his third goal of the season. The second goal of the game originally went to Captain Joe Pavelski but was later changed to Tomas Hertl who ended up getting a piece of the puck off his skate.
Questions still linger with the Sharks starting roster. Logan Couture may be out for tonight's game, still recovering from a concussion. Paul Martin is back on the Sharks roster but will likely remain out with the flu. With eight healthy defenses ready to play, the blueliners will have some sorting out to do for the starting positions.
