Now, on to my review of Stillhouse Lake:
Title: Stillhouse Lake
Author: Rachel Caine
How many pages: 300 pages
Review:The title of the novel is the new hometown of Gwen Proctor and her two children, in an effort to escape her past. Her former husband Melvin Royal, is a serial killer only caught because a drunk driver crashes into the family's garage.
Melvin had been torturing and murdering women in their garage for years. Gwen is acquitted of any wrong-doing but now must find a way for her and her kids to move on.
There are constant threats from internet groups and her husband's victims' families. The family finally finds comfort living in Stillhouse Lake.
Then, a body (killed in the style of her ex-husband) is found close to the Proctor's new home. After being married to a serial killer for many years Gwen has no idea who she can trust. She will, however, do anything to keep her children safe.
Rating:Stillhouse Lake is original, fast-paced, and an easy read. I enjoyed large sections of the story, although the book is fiction I found some of the story to be unbelievable (Gwen's connection to the hacker, etc,). I'd give the book a passing grade, plus I did order the rest of the series - 3 out of 5.
What I'm reading next: Now it's up to the fans to help me choose which book I'll be reading next. Please remember to tweet at me with your vote!
