power-rankings-pavelski-gq

For a few years now, the San Jose Sharks social media accounts have featured the players and their steadily-improving suit game through the hashtag
#SharklyDressedMen
. Inspired by that, we set up a pregame photoshoot and required all players to take part to show off their suits in a more structured way (e.g. not just photos of them walking through the halls of various arenas).
Photos in hand, we chose the top ten looks (some players still need some work) and decided to rank them according to this simple metric: "How likely would we see this photo in GQ?"
NOTE: We'd like to give the disclaimer that these photos were taken prior to a preseason game and without any prior notice, so some players were wearing their "B" and "C" suits.
We've been assured by those players that they step their suit-game up for the regular season.
10. Melker Karlsson
Karlsson wins in terms of tie choice - that print is on choice - but his pose and general demeanor is definitely more "law firm" than "fashion shoot."

9. Martin Jones
This is a dependable suit with a solid color combination that won't win any awards, but won't appear on a Worst Dressed list either.
8. Brenden Dillon
We normally like how smile-y Dillon is, but unfortunately, high fashion and smiles don't go together (smizing, on the other hand…).
7. Tomas Hertl
The pose says "high fashion" but the tie says "I am awkwardly lying above the jacket."
6. Kevin Labanc
The "buttoning the suit jacket while staring off into the distance" move pretty much automatically makes any photo high-fashion.
5. Erik Karlsson
Subtly daring suit, unconventional pocket square… the other Karlsson brought it in this photoshoot.
4. Brent Burns
Yes, that suit is red camo. Yes, that's a bow tie under the beard.
Never change, Burnzie.
3. Joe Pavelski
With how many pregame suit photoshoots we've done over the years, Pavelski is definitely a seasoned vet that knows his angles.
2. Evander Kane
Always near the top of the #SharklyDressedMen rankings, Kane did not disappoint with this getup (even if it was just a preseason game). Would probably be at the top of the rankings, if not for the #1 guy…
1. Timo Meier
No, we did not steal this photo from a GQ shoot.
