20180105-rankings-beardpulling

Beards. We at the San Jose Sharks are huge fans, with many of the players rocking beards that range from scruff to
commercial-worthy
. Other teams have rules against the facial hair, which are just simply inconceivable to those in San Jose.
But being the owners of such impressive examples of chin curtains does not come without its perils. Over the past three seasons, a couple of the beards on the team have been victims of beard violence multiple times.
To shed light on this issue, here are the rankings of the times beards have been pulled.

5. Bobby Orr tugs Brent Burns's beard at the All-Star Weekend
This one was more of an honor than anything.
"That was probably the best thing I took away from that weekend getting a cool picture with Bobby Orr, tugging my beard" Brent Burns said at the time. "It was awesome."
4. Chris Wagner pulls Brent Burns's beard in a scrum

Lost amongst the other, higher-profile incidents, but this is still an example of beard violence and should not be forgotten.
3. Patrick Maroon strokes Burns's beard

Less violent, more weird.
2. Joe Thornton and David Backes play tug-of-war

The one that started it all.
1. Nazem Kadri rips off part of Joe Thornton's beard

We just saw that Thornton's beard is pretty strong in the incident with Backes, so the fact that Kadri pulled out such a large chunk… Well, all of us at sjsharks.com don't approve.
