Slone's passion lies in storytelling, equity and celebrating the people who are pushing boundaries and making a difference within the world of sport.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Slone is perhaps best known for her work serving as a co-host of the Canadian nationally-broadcast Rogers Hometown Hockey program from 2014-2022 alongside Hockey Night in Canada's Ron MacLean. The show, which allowed her to become the first woman in Canada to helm a weekly national NHL program, toured across the country for eight seasons, visiting over 150 rabid hockey cities and towns.
During her tenure at Sportsnet, Slone also developed and hosted the weekly series Top of [HER] Game, which focused on stories of empowered women in the world of sports.
Slone was a recipient of the 2022 Women of Influence Women in Media award and is a 2021 Canadian Screen Award nominee for her work on the CityTV music program Budweiser Stage at Home, a series of concerts broadcast in Canada, Additionally, she was named a notable Change Advocate by The Hockey News, recognizing those in the hockey community committed to shifting hockey culture for the better.
Over the course of her long and distinguished broadcasting career, she has served as a host or contributor on a wide variety of programming, including Sportsnet and CBC's Hockey Night in Canada and Hockey Day in Canada, the World Cup of Hockey, Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and many others.
She made her initial transition to broadcasting in 2007, and in 2010 she became host of Citytv's morning show Breakfast Television Calgary, where she spent five years. On top of covering everything from gardening to politics, it was there that Slone was given the chance to follow her passion for sports, acting as a regular contributor to Sportsnet, covering CHL and USports hockey, curling, soccer, and bobsled.
Slone's talents are not limited to appearing in front of the camera. Her first career in entertainment was behind the microphone, fronting the rock group Joydrop, selling over 100,000 albums, and garnering a Juno nomination for Best New Group. She was a finalist on the hit CBS series RockStar: INXS, and has also appeared in dozens of films, television shows, and stage productions early in her entertainment career.
