In a subsequent trade, the Sharks sent Foligno and forward Stefan Noesen to Toronto in exchange for Toronto's own 2021 fourth-round selection. San Jose will retain 25% of Foligno's contract.
Additionally, Toronto sent their first-round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft and a fourth-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft to Columbus.
Noesen, 28, split the season between the Sharks and San Jose Barracuda, San Jose's top developmental affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Noesen appeared in five games for the Sharks, recording five shots and two penalty minutes. With the Barracuda, he registered six points (two goals, four assists) and 23 penalty minutes in 12 games.
