2019 Sharks Playground Build

On October 18 the Sharks Foundation and SAP joined school faculty and community members to build a KaBOOM! playground at Windmill Springs Elementary School.
In just six hours nearly 200 volunteers were able to construct the structure and revitalize the area with colorful artwork and functional side projects such as benches and planter boxes, to offer the school's Pre-K and Kindergarten students an age appropriate and safe zone for outdoor activity.

KaBoom Playground Ribbon Cutting

The morning started with motivational remarks led by Sharks President John Tortora and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility SAP North America, Katie Morgan, while Sharks Tomas Hertl and mascot S.J. Sharkie joined the group later that day to put the finishing touches on the playground and officially cut the ribbon to welcome everyone to the new space.
As part of an ongoing
legacy project
, this was the Sharks Foundation's fifth KaBOOM! playground, building previous Sharks-themed structures throughout the San Jose community with the most recent being at Morgan Autism Center in August 2018. If your school or community center is seeking a new playground, please visit
