SAN JOSE, CA -The Sharks Foundation (
@SharksCare
) announced today that it will donate $300,000 to seven non-profit organizations selected as the 2016-17 Sharks Foundation Grant Recipients. The seven organizations will be recognized as part of the Foundation's Season of Giving in an on-ice ceremony at the Sharks game on Tuesday, December 20 vs. the Calgary Flames.
The 2016-17 Sharks Foundation grant recipients are: ALearn, Breakthrough Silicon Valley, George Mark Children's House, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, Montalvo Arts Center, Students Rising Above, and Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
The Sharks Foundation Board of Directors selected these seven beneficiaries from nearly 100 grant applications that were submitted in September. The selected organizations all met the criteria set forth by the Sharks Foundation, which states that the organization must be classified as a public 501(c)3 non-profit group that offers programs that support local youth and families in Santa Clara County.

"The goal of the Sharks Foundation continues to be to make a positive impact in the lives of others," said Heather Hooper, Sharks Foundation Manager. "We are proud to support these seven incredible organizations and therefore, thousands of individuals in need in our community."

Last year the Sharks Foundation gave a total of $565,000 to 24 organizations during the annual grant cycle.
