SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Sharks (

In 2020-21, he recorded 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 40 games for the Boston Jr. Bruins of the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC) while also appearing in three games for Cushing Academy and two games for Green Bay, scoring his first career USHL goal in his final game of the season on April 19. Lund led all U17 NCDC players in goals and points.
With their second selection in the second round, San Jose selected Swedish defenseman Mattias Havelid (HAV-uh-lihd) from Linkoping HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Havelid appeared in 23 games for the SHL team. He also spent time with Linkoping HC's junior teams in the J20 Nationell, appearing in 31 total games notching 23 points (12 goals, 10 assists). The defenseman co-led the J20 Nationell playoffs in points (10) with Filip Bystedt, who the Sharks selected with their 27th overall selection in the First Round of the 2022 Draft and led all defensemen in playoff goals (five). After the final, he was named the tournament's MVP. Havelid represented Sweden at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, leading the tournament in assists and finishing tied-third in points with nine points (two goals, seven assists) in five games. He was named an alternate captain for Sweden at the 2022 World U18 Championship, helping Sweden to a first-place finish with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in six games.
In 2020-21, Havelid appeared in 12 games for Linkoping HC in the J18 region, registering six assists. He recorded four points (one goal, three assists) as an underage player for Sweden in the 2021 World U18 Championship, helping Sweden claim second.
Havelid's father, Niclas, appeared in 628 NHL games as a defenseman for Anaheim, Atlanta and New Jersey, collecting 171 points (34 goals, 137 assists).
With their third-round selection, San Jose drafted defenseman Michael Fisher from St. Mark's School (Massachusetts) in the United States prep school circuit at 76th overall. Fisher led all team defensemen and finished second among team skaters in points with 50 (13 goals, 37 assists) in 28 games. Fisher was drafted in the 4th round, 54th overall by Youngstown in Phase II of the 2021 USHL Draft. Like Lund, Fisher is committed to Northeastern University.
Before making their fourth selection, San Jose acquired forward Luke Kunin from the Nashville Predators in exchange for John Leonard and a 2023 third-round selection. Last season, Kunin tallied 22 points (13 goals, nine assists) in 82 games for Nashville. The six-foot, 197-pound forward was originally selected by Minnesota in the first round, 15th overall in 2016.
In the fourth round, 108th overall, San Jose selected a goaltender for the second consecutive year, drafting Mason Beaupit from Spokane of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Beaupit appeared in 49 games for Spokane last season, earning a 10-22-4 record, an .893 save percentage and a 3.63 goals-against-average. In his fourth game of the season, Beaupit stopped all 18 shots he faced on October 15 to earn his first WHL shutout. Beaupit won six consecutive starts from Feb. 25 to March 12, allowing just 11 goals in that span. He won 11 of his last 16 games to end the season. He was named to the 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and was ranked as the No. 5 North American Goalie by NHL Central Scouting.
Beaupit appeared in 10 games for Spokane in the 2020-21 shortened WHL season, earning a 3-5-2 record, adding a .916 save percentage and 3.24 goals-against-average. The six-foot-five, 184-pound native of Surrey, B.C. was selected in the fourth round, 82nd overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
San Jose traded the 138th overall selection to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round selection.
With their remaining fifth-round selection, 140th overall, the Sharks selected defenseman Jake Furlong from the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 18-year-old defenseman led all Halifax defensemen with 42 points (four goals, 38 assists) in 67 games, along with four assists in five playoff games. Among league U18 defenseman, Furlong finished first in assists, second in points and third in plus-minus (plus-22).
In 2020-21, Furlong recorded 10 points (one goal, nine assists) 37 games as a rookie with Halifax, finishing fifth among QMJHL rookie defensemen and fourth among Halifax defensemen in points. Furlong tallied his first QMJHL assist in his second game of the season on Oct. 3 and scored his first QMJHL goal on March 11.
San Jose selected forward Joey Muldowney in the sixth round with the 172nd overall draft pick. Muldowney led Nichols School (New York) with 97 points (57 goals, 40 assists) in 56 games in the high school prep circuit. The forward's 57 goals led all prep hockey players in the nation. Muldowney appeared in three USHL games with the Des Moines Buccaneers, recording two points (one goal, one assist) and he scored in his USHL debut on April 20.
Prior to playing with Nichols School, Muldowney skated in 24 games with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 16U in 2020-21, recording 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists). He led the Jr. Sabres in goals and points and was the only player on his team to eclipse 10 goals.
With their first seventh-round selection, San Jose drafted six-foot-five defenseman Eli Barnett from the Victoria Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Barnett recorded 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 55 games in his rookie BCHL season. Barnett ranked fourth on Victoria in points by a defenseman.
In the 2020-21 season, Barnett played for the South Shore Lumberjacks of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, where he collected six assists in 22 games. Barnett was selected in the sixth round, 78th overall in Phase I of the 2019 USHL Draft by the Madison Capitols.
San Jose traded the 204th overall selection to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round selection.
With their final selection of the draft, the Sharks drafted San Jose native Reese Laubach (lau-bawk) in the seventh round, 217th overall. Laubach spent the 2021-22 season with NorthStar Christian Academy, scoring 102 points (51 goals, 51 assists) in 57 18U games. Drafted by the Youngstown Phantoms in Phase II of the 2021 USHL Draft, the forward skated in two USHL games last season.
Prior to playing with NorthStar Christian Academy, Laubach played with the Jr. Sharks program until the 2020-21 season and attended Valley Christian High School. Laubach led the Jr. Sharks 16U with 60 points (30 goals, 30 assists) in 49 games.
