Three days and a teal-painted home later, the Sharks Foundation completed a transformation of seven homes on neighboring blocks in East Palo Alto with the help of Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco on August 10-12. As part of the Sharks Foundation-sponsored event, San Jose Sharks fans, team partners and front office staff members volunteered to conduct the crucial repairs to the homes.
The Sharks Foundation kicked-off the Building Blocks event by presenting Habitat for Humanity with $60,000 to support the neighborhood revitalization efforts. Funds were raised during the 2016-17 Stanley Cup Playoff run through the 50/50 Raffle, Brews & Beards Booth, and the sale of promotional playoff items.

Then volunteers quickly dispersed to various homes throughout the neighborhood to begin painting, landscaping and repairing fences and roofs over a three-day span. One homeowner was thrilled with a professional paint job in iconic Sharks teal through a donation from Orchard Supply Hardware and The Painting Pros.
At the conclusion of the project, neighbors and volunteers came together to celebrate the home improvements and to get to know each other during a block party on Saturday, August 12.
In addition to the project in East Palo Alto, a $16,000 donation was made to Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley to support five homes in downtown San Jose affected by the February flooding of Coyote Creek.
